PROCEDURES

PUPPY CARE

  • Only buy from a registered breeder and choose a quality pup from HD(Hip Displasia) free parents and ask to see the certificate.
  • Don't skimp on food - good food is extremely important for your dog's health and well being. Commercially available puppy food of good quality is balanced, adequate and formulated to meet your puppy's needs.
  • Read the feeding guidelines on the packaging carefully and give at least 3 meals per day.
  • Avoid giving your puppy milk or calcium supplements once your dog had been weaned. All his nutritional needs are provided for in quality dog food, as it contains all the extra minerals, vitamins and nutrients required in a dog's diet.
  • Take care not to overfeed your dog, you will only shorten its lifespan and could negatively affect paw alignment, topline and joint development.
  • Watch out for slippery floors and untrained persons (such as children) picking up your puppy - it can cause injuries to your dog, especially to puppies whose joints are not yet well formed.
  • Don't let your puppy play with big dogs because they might unintentionally hurt the smaller dog.
  • Give your puppy lots of love, proper care and attention, as he/she is dependent on you.

Never buy a puppy on impulse.
Buy with your head and not your heart.

When buying a puppy from EBBASA breeders, the following documents should be available:

  • Birth certificate, detailing parents' names and status.
  • Microchip documentation (if for export).
  • Hip and elbow certificates from a recognised source of both parents.
  • A veterinary certificate indicating that the female parent is free from vaginal prolapse.
  • A certificate certifying that both parents are eye entropion or ectropion free.
  • Proof of membership for the current year.
  • An in-date Kennel Certificate valid for the breeder's address and for the number of dogs on the property.

Boerboel Puppy "Export" Grading

Boerboels sold to remote buyers are to be carefully selected and certified with an EBBASA Puppy "Export" Grading. The Grading is available to all remote buyers of puppies irrespective of their affiliation. The Grading considers and certifies all the relevant factors important to the quality of a puppy, the ethical production thereof and the quality of the transportation method selected. The Puppy Grading is for the protection of the buyer and is therefore for the account of the buyer. Full detail on the criteria, cost and scoring methodology can be obtained from ebbasa@gmail.com.

EBBASA breeders export dogs all over the world to all countries including Russia, Netherlands, Scotland, Argentina, Belgium, Portugal, Israel, the USA, North and West Africa, Scandinavia, Canada and South America.

Kennel Certificates

Only Boerboel breeders who qualified and were issued with an EBBASA Kennel Certificate are recognised as breeders with EBBASA. Please ensure that the seller is in possession of an EBBASA membership number and in-date kennel certificate.

PUPPY REGISTRATION

If a breeder wants to register a puppy, any of the EBBASA offices should be able to assist. The minimum documentation required is the registration certificates of both parents, issued by an organisation accepted by EBBASA. A puppy registration fee is payable in all cases. If you have any enquiries in this regard, please contact the EBBASA Head Office at ebbasa@gmail.com.

REGISTRATION OR APPRAISAL OF ADULT DOGS

Adult dogs can be entered onto the stud register of EBBASA and receive a registration certificate once they reach a minimum age of 12 months and be awarded a minimum score of 75% by an appointed EBBASA Appraiser. An appraisal fee is payable in all cases. Should you wish to have dogs appraised please get in touch with the EBBASA Head Office at ebbasa@gmail.com.

Certification of adult dogs' hip displasia status, elbow deviation, eye entropion/ectropion or vaginal hyperplasia (in the case of female dogs) is prescribed by EBBASA and submission of such at the appraisal date of the dog is strongly recommended. The availability of the above certification can also influence the appraisal score and status of your dog.
